Women of Nigeria Made the World Pay Attention

　　It is impossible not to be outraged by the kidnapping of hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls and the inexcusable delay in pursuing the armed terrorists who took them. Women from the Nigerian town of Chibok, frustrated at the inaction, launched a protest which set off the viral #BringBackOurGirls campaign. Their courageous action swept away weeks of international apathy.

　　The tragedy of the Nigerian girls was highlighted in a grotesque video of a laughing Abubakr Shekau, the leader of Boko Haram, the militant terrorist organization responsible. He declared that he will sell each of the girls. His revolting message focuses on the discrimination women face throughout the world. The whole world is now watching and help is on the way. Women are not powerless.

奈及利亚女性的反扑

　　对于数百名奈及利亚女学生遭绑架的事件，以及迟迟不去追捕绑架她们的武装恐怖份子这种难以原谅的行为，很难让人不义愤填膺。来自奈及利亚小镇奇博克的女性对于这种毫无作为的情形感到相当沮丧，因此发起了一场抗议活动，并引发了『把我们的女孩带回来』这项如病毒般蔓延的活动。她们勇敢的行为让数周来国际间的冷漠态度一扫而空。

　　奈及利亚女孩们的惨案因一段古怪的影片而引起了重视，这段影片是由一名脸上带着嘲笑神情的激进恐怖组织博科哈朗领袖阿布巴克‧谢考所拍摄。他宣称要把每个女孩都卖掉。他所发表令人嫌恶的言论突显了全世界的女性所面临的歧视。现在，全世界都在关注并展开救援行动。女性再也不是软弱无力的一群了。

 

Taiwan's Hsieh Is Number One in the World

　　By virtue of recent results at the Mutua Madrid Open, Hsieh Su-Wei joined her loyal doubles partner, Peng Shuai, as co-world number one in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) doubles rankings. Earlier this year, Peng became the first player from China ever to hold a number one ranking in tennis, male or female, singles or doubles, and now Hsieh will achieve the same feat for Taiwan.

　　"Reaching number one in the world is a great feeling," Hsieh said. "We have been working really hard as a team. I was very proud when Peng reached number one earlier this year and now I am happy we can share it."

来自台湾的世界球后──谢淑薇

　　近期藉由马德里公开赛的结果，谢淑薇与她忠实的双打搭档彭帅，在女子职业网球协会（WTA）双打项目中并列世界第一。在今年稍早的时候，彭帅已成为中国有史以来第一位在网球项目中名列第一的选手，不论是男网女网或单打双打，而现在，谢淑薇也将为台湾拿下相同的殊荣。

　　谢淑薇表示，『拿到世界第一的感觉真的很棒。身为搭档，我们一直都很努力。今年稍早的时候，我为彭帅拿到世界第一而感到光荣，而现在，我很高兴我们能一起分享这份殊荣。』
