The Consequences of Being Lazy|懒惰的后果

　　Harry was enjoying watching a program on television; his enjoyment, however, was interrupted by his mother's nagging. Concerned about her son's poor grades, she scolded him for wasting time instead of studying and doing his homework. Harry quickly turned off the TV and promised his mother he would hit the books right away.

　　However, once Harry closed the door to his room, he didn't open his schoolbooks. Instead, he went straight to his portable video game console and started playing his favorite game, Star Blaster II. The hours went by as Harry was captivated by the thrilling video game. Meanwhile, his mother was downstairs content in the mistaken belief that her son was working hard.

　　The next day, Harry arrived at school and was surprised to learn he had forgotten all about the English test that was scheduled. Since he hadn't studied at all, he knew he was doomed to do poorly. The test results confirmed his worst fears：he scored a 50 out of 100, a failing grade. How could he explain his failure to his mother?

 

　　当哈利正开心地看着电视，他的乐趣却被妈妈的唠叨给打断了。妈妈担心儿子的烂成绩，便责骂他为何浪费时间而不去唸书和写功课。哈利很快就关掉了电视，并答应妈妈他会立刻去唸书。

　　然而，哈利回到房间关上房门之后，并没有打开课本。相反地，他直接拿起了携带型的电动游戏机，开始玩他最喜欢的游戏 ―― 星际争霸 II。当哈利沉迷在刺激的电动游戏中，几小时过去了。在此同时，楼下的妈妈还误以为儿子正在认真唸书，因而感到十分满意。

　　隔天哈利到学校后，他十分惊讶自己竟完全把原定的英文考试忘得一干二净。由于完全没有唸书，他知道自己一定会考得很烂。考试结果果然印证了他最担心的事，因为他考了一个不及格的分数 ―― 五十分。他该怎么跟妈妈解释他为什么会考不及格呢？
