Beyond Beauty Soars to Break Local Box Office Record

　　Some documentaries are head and shoulders above others. Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above is a 93-minute masterpiece about Taiwan's natural scenery that was shot totally from the skies. Director Chi Po-lin spent 400 hours in the air, nearly NT$100 million, and three years filming the movie. Recently released, the documentary earned NT$11 million in its first three days of release, which is more than what any other documentary has made in its premiere week in Taiwan. The film was also nominated for best documentary and best original film score at the 50th Golden Horse Awards. Malala Steals the Show at Women of the Year Awards

　　There are very few women in the world today as popular as Malala Yousafzai, the young Pakistani activist who came to the world's attention when she was ruthlessly shot in the head by the Taliban for criticizing its restrictions on girls' education. At Glamour magazine's Women of the Year award show recently, Yousafzai said in her speech, "I believe the gun has no power because a gun can only kill, but a pen can give life." While Yousafzai didn't win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013, she has done a lot of work by becoming an inspiration for millions of children who relish the chance to go to school.
