Giant Rubber Duck Swam into Kaohsiung in September

　　One of the giant rubber duck sculptures that have amused residents of 12 cities around the world swam into Kaohsiung, Taiwan's largest port, in September and October. The massive piece of artwork, named simply Rubber Duck, was on display at the Glory Pier from September 19 to October 20. Kaohsiung was the 13th city in the world to exhibit the yellow rubber ducks since its tour started in 2007. When the duck made its nest in nearby Hong Kong from May 2 to June 9, hundreds of thousands of visitors reportedly flocked to Victoria Harbor to take in the enormous bath toy-shaped artwork. With a height of 18 meters and a base diameter of 15 meters, the Rubber Duck that was in Kaohsiung was the largest displayed in Asia.

 

黄色小鸭游进高雄

　　一只带给世界各地十二个城市居民欢乐的巨型橡皮鸭，在九月和十月间游进全台湾最大的港口──高雄港。这件巨大艺术品的名字就叫做『橡皮鸭』，从九月十九日起至十月二十日于光荣码头展出。自从黄色橡皮鸭于 2007 年开始展开巡回，高雄是全世界第十三个展出黄色橡皮鸭的城市。据报导，当这只鸭子于五月二日至六月九日在香港附近停留，成千上万的游客涌入维多利亚港来欣赏这个巨大的泡澡玩具造型艺术品。这次在高雄展出的这只橡皮鸭高十八公尺、底部直径十五公尺，是全亚洲最大的展出品。

 

Brazil Sues Samsung over Labor Violations

　　Samsung Electronics is facing a lawsuit from the government of Brazil, which is seeking damages over poor working conditions on the company's Brazilian assembly lines. Brazil's labor ministry has found serious violations, including working up to 15 hours a day and insufficient breaks at factories. Prosecutors allege that in 2012, more than 2,000 workers suffered from health problems such as back injuries that were related to working conditions.

　　Samsung, the world's largest maker of smartphones, memory chips, and LCD display panels, had already been prosecuted in Brazil in 2011 over poor working conditions and had paid a settlement of about US$200,000. The company has also been accused of hiring children in China and has faced a flurry of lawsuits from workers seeking compensation for health hazards at its factories in South Korea.

巴西起诉三星公司违反劳基法

　　三星电子公司正面临巴西政府所提出的法律诉讼，这项诉讼是要对该公司巴西装配生产线的恶劣工作条件寻求损害赔偿。巴西劳工部已经发现严重的违法行为，包括一天在工厂的工作时间长达十五个小时，而且没有足够的休息时间。检察官表示，在 2012 年有两千多名工人都产生了和工作条件有关的健康问题，例如背部受伤。

　　身为全世界规模最大的智能型手机、存储器芯片及液晶显示面板制造商，三星公司在 2011 年就已经因为恶劣的工作条件而在巴西遭到起诉，并已支付大约二十万美元的和解赔偿金。该公司也被指控在中国雇用童工，并面临该公司南韩工厂中的工人因健康危害而要求赔偿所发起的一连串诉讼。
