　　One of the best ways to check out the sights and sounds of the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, is to take a boat tour of the city. On the Hop-On Hop-Off Boat Tour, visitors buy a ticket that can be used as much as desired for 24 hours. The boats drop people off at the Royal Palace so that they can watch the changing of the guards or along the cobblestone streets of Gamla Stan for some great shopping. For those looking for culture, the modern art museum, Moderna Museet, is a must-visit. Another noteworthy place to visit is the Vasa Warship Museum. There, people can examine the vessel Vasa, which sank minutes after its maiden voyage started in 1628. In 1961, researchers pulled it out of the water and reconstructed it piece by piece.

　　While those are common tourist activities, taking a trip to the Metaltown Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden's second-biggest city, is not. Sweden still loves heavy metal, and the bands picked to play there keep their audiences banging their heads to the music. Another atypical activity to enjoy would be to visit Visby for Medieval Week. During this celebration of older times, people dress up in authentic outfits from medieval times as well as have feasts and even jousts.

　　It feels like half of the year is winter in Sweden, so it's no wonder that many people participate in winter sports. Mainstream sports like skiing and snowboarding are popular, and so are lesser-known ones like ice fishing and curling.
